Well this is my big girl, hoping to breed her to a mates Jag this year for some nice Jung/Jags,she is 4 years old,6ft long and generally very sweet natured....
REALLY LIKE HER WHAT SIZE WILL SHE GET AND WHAT SIZE VIV DO YOU KEEP HER IN WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME MORE PICS OF HER LOVELY SNAKE MATE
Hi,thanks for all the nice comments. I think she is now about as big as she is going to be give or take a few inches,I keep here in a 40 x 24 x 36 viv,any bigger and she stops eating, fussy cow!
THANKS FOR GETTING BACK TO ME KEEP GETTING TEMPTED TO GET A CARPET BUT THER ARE SO MANY TO CHOSE FROM I DONT KNOW WERE TO START, I QUITE LIKE THE IRIAN JAYA ( I THINK THAT IS HOW IT IS SPELT).IF ANY ONE HAS ANY PICS OR INFO WOULD LOVE HEAR IT
This one spends most of her time on the ground tbh, although she ventures up on the perch as it gets closer to a feed,in fact I have often used this as a guide to her hunger.Following this routine she takes 2 large rats every 14-16 days. The Irian Jaya carpet pythons(or west papuan as they are also known) are the smallest of the carpet pythons I believe, and they can be easily identified when babies by their rusty red colouring. They are known to tame well & are easy enough to keep and I would think they are the perfect introduction to keeping morelia.Having said that ,a CB jungle or even coastal if you have room would be fine too. I got to be honest,I never had much interest in morelia myself for a lot of years, favouring Boa's and the larger pythons, but they have 'grown on me' if you like, and I now have a hankering for a nice partner for her,and one for my male scrub python too!
