My friend has a very nasty baby boa. its about 2 months old. she bought it from GG at the barking show.
She told me it was nasty so me n George went to see it. God! i have never known a snake to be that evil. All it does is trikes out at you, permenantly got its mouth open and hissing. for over an hour all it did was struck and hissed - mouth wide open the whole time.
George tried to feed it. IT did not want food just wanted to attack. its defensive all the time.
Dont know if its just scared or what but the owner it petrified of it. Apparently it was ok for the 1st day or 2 and been like this since. has eaten but got to be in the mood.
I took some pix on my phone just need to upload them onto the pc. Even if you walk past her tank 9 2 ft away) she hisses and strikes out a good 2 -3 inches
So anyone got any idea why it might be like this. Apparently its a red tail boa but i dont know much more than that.
Tony - she may bring it down to show you the weekend. she is now looking for a home for it but will only let it go to someone who is experianced. She offered it to me but i said NO!!!!!!!!

She is in a Plastic Viv for the time being. She was placed in another Full Size viv but she was just going mad so i took her out nad placed her back in the smaller one to try and have abit more control over her! Nope that didnt work either! HELP
If shes in to bigger box she could feel intimidated by too much space a small contico size box will be adequate. Shell need a hide of some sort this my help chill her out she should be at a constant temperature of approximately 85 degrees in the cool end of the environment with a hot spot of 95 degrees. Also handling her every day for about 30 min or so will help when you open her box place your hand over her covering her head then after a min or so she should calm down then pick her up. Once youve picked her up she should be fine.
She is in a small plastic container like the ones in the shop and has a hide. she sat and hissed for well over an hour last night. George tried her with the hook she was ok at 1st but then just kept going mad. Once you got her in your hand she just keeps attacking. she got us all last night and drew blood on george. IF ou go anywhere near her box she is in defense mode hisses and constantly strikes. poor thing just seems as if she is so scared. Geroge tried to feed her but she jsut struck at the food and then let it go - he tried a few times but heach time he tried to get the food out she kept going for him but she was not interested in the food. I dont know what her temps are at but im sure Beulah will tell you

if you shy away from her being like this she's won a bite or 10 from a baby really ant goner be bad a hook really wont help she needs contact i don't live fare from you if you want me to have a go with her for you?
last time i had a nasty one after 3 month it produced mites went through 7 snakes i had i cleaned em all up and everything was better it still wanted to bite so took it back to shop one i have now is a lot better hes a common tho not common x red tail like first one ive heard reds can be nasty anyway hope you sort it soon enuff keep up the good work
Just put some gloves on and start handling, just 5 mins every day to start, move to 10,move to 10 with no gloves etc etc, most baby snakes are naturally defensive, and many start out with less than desireable temperaments, but with regular, gentle handling, come round to be very reliable. There are, however, that percentage that just will not ever be tame no matter what you do.Personally I like some of my snakes to have a bit of 'spirit' shall we say, keeps the heart pumping. It should also be pointed out that a 2-4 month old baby boa is not going to do you any harm at all,in fact once you've been tagged by it,I'm sure you'll laugh about it.If its still that small my honest advice is stick your hand in there and get bitten. You'll be handling in no time once you realise how ineffectual a bite is at that size. Best of luck
I think its getting a little better but the owner is still scared of it! she has been using gloves as far as i know! I think the main thing is is that is now eating - where as it wasnt before!
IT seems to be scared of anyting and everything. The owner was so scared as it got her a few times and drew blood lol!
think she still plans on selling her. I ahvent spoken to her for a while about medusa to find out how she is getting on!
